Welcome to the Library

Greetings, humans. And welcome to my library.

My name is Wan Shi Tong, he who knows ten thousand things. I am the spirit guardian of this library, which contains all the knowledge in the world. My library has been buried under the sands of the Si Wong Desert ever since I closed it against those who would misuse its knowledge. It was still accessible by those who sought it until Avatar Aang and his friends came to visit; since then, I have kept it permanently buried and closed to all.

Of course, my library also exists in the spirit world. I recently received a visit there from a young airbender who was allied with Avatar Korra. I betrayed this child to a man who I believed to be far more trustworthy than the Avatar. It is not often that an all-knowing spirit admits to being wrong, but in this case I must.

The young airbender piqued my curiosity about new technologies in the human world when she explained the workings of a radio. Since then, out of curiosity and I suppose as an apology to the girl, I have been attempting to educate myself further. This research has led me to discover the marvels of the internet, a library that is certainly not as carefully curated as my own, but is nonetheless quite impressive. It seems to expand every day, and has shown me both the immense stupidity and the brilliant creativity of humans.

Inspired by this feat of technology, I have decided to open my library once again to the public. However, I will not be accepting visitors in either the physical or spiritual facilities. Rather, I have chosen to start this blog, in which I will share glimpses of the wonders contained in my bookshelves. I will write my opinions and insights on a variety of books old and new.

I hope that perhaps through this sharing of knowledge, I will redeem myself in the eyes of the Avatar and of any knowledge-seekers whom my pride has harmed.
